PHARMACEUTICAL GRADE HYALURONIC ACID | SODIUM HYALURONATE

Pharmaceutical grades of hyaluronic acid, or sodium hyaluronate, are used in viscoelastic solutions and parenteral applications. These applications include: intra-articular injections for improved mobility and patient comfort, intra-dermal injections for aesthetic applications, and other intra-articular, as well as intra-ocular uses such as in opthalmic viscosurgical devices.

This hyaluronic acid grade can be used as an API or excipient delivery system. These are non-animal source products of the highest quality and purity, so there is no risk of transmitting animal disease. Biotechnology derived types of Sodium Hyaluronate provide lower protein and endotoxin levels.

MEDICAL GRADE HYALURONIC ACID SUPPLIER

Falcon Trading International is a medical grade hyaluronic acid supplier. This material can be used in oral and intra-articular applications which do not include intra-ocular products. Uses include wound and burn care, medical lubrication, contact lens solutions and eye drops.

Crosslinked hyaluronic acid | sodium hyaluronate for dermal filler, joint and other structure related applications is also available. Crosslinked sodium hyaluronate is often used in intra-articular applications. Please contact us for details. For general crosslink usage information, see this Sodium Hyaluronate WebMD guide.

For information on Hyaluronic Acid applications in tissue engineering, wound healing, scaffold building and drug delivery systems see this NIH article.

cosmetic grade HYALURONIC ACID | SODIUM HYALURONATE

We supply cosmetic grade hyaluronic acid in a wide range of molecular weights for the manufacture of skin care and anti-aging products. Many clients come to us with specific molecular weight needs, which we are able to meet with very close proximity. Other clients, working on new projects or beginning to work in the HA field, are unsure about the best molecular weight choice for their product application. While it is suggested that clients do their own research to determine what specifications suit their requirements, here are some general guidelines on hyaluronic acid | sodium hyaluronate for cosmetic applications:

MOLECULAR WEIGHT BASICS FOR COSMETIC FORMULATIONS

Effectiveness of applications for hyaluronic acid cosmetic manufacturing is dependent on molecular weight. For cosmetic and skincare products it is important to consider how deep the HA molecule is needed to penetrate, and what it can achieve at that level.

Larger molecules have amazing water binding capacity, but they are not able to penetrate the surface skin barrier. In creams or serums they have the capability to retain moisture for a much smoother skin appearance, but the effectiveness is short lived, so repeated application is necessary.

Low molecular weights (smaller molecules) hold less moisture, but are able to penetrate deeper into the dermis for a longer lasting effect. These smaller sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) molecules also enable water to be stored in the connective tissues, which promotes smoother skin with improved firmness and elasticity.

Since different molecular weights work in different ways, many manufacturers of sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) formulas use multiple molecular weights to enable a wider range of actions in their products.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID | SODIUM HYALURONATE?

Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan that occurs naturally in the human body in skin, cartilage, nerves, bones, and eyes. It is also a key component of synovial fluid within the joints. Technically, it is an unbranched polysaccharide consisting of alternately repeating D-glucuronic acid and N- acetylglucosamine units.

HA has a remarkable ability to bind and retain water molecules. It is the largest component of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the skin. The ECM also forms a framework between cells, as well as providing enhancement of cellular function.

HYALURONIC ACID VS sODIUM HYALURONATE

Sodium hyaluronate is hyaluronic acid, but not all hyaluronic acid is sodium hyaluronate. Hyaluronic acid has two salt forms; potassium hyaluronate and sodium hyaluronate. The sodium hyaluronate version is most often produced by bacteria fermentation, followed by stages of filtration and purification. The manufacture of sodium hyaluronate can provide a lower molecular weight range, higher purity and resistance to oxidation, as well as better stability.

NON-GMO, NON-ANIMAL DERIVED Ha

Our HA powder is obtained from bacterial fermentation. This product can be classified in the USA as "vegetarian" or "non-animal derived.” Manufacture by biofermentation provides the benefit of lower protein residuals and low endotoxin levels, as well as lower cost.

MOLECULAR WEIGHT AND VISCOSITY

High molecular weight hyaluronic acid provides higher viscosity in dilute solutions. For ocular and intra-articular applications, high molecular weight hyaluronic acid has remarkable viscoelasticity, changing with movement of eye blinking or knee motion, from viscous to fluid. For a technical overview of HA viscosity see this NIH literature entitled Viscoelastic Properties of Hyaluronan in Physiological Conditions.

ABOUT APPLICATIONS AND USAGE

It is recommended that buyers determine for themselves whether particular product characteristics are suitable for their own manufacturing. However, we can help with questions about specifications and use applications. We provide quality product as well as service and support.

If you have any questions, please contact us. For more information about chemical structure, applications, usage considerations please see this Compound Summary about Hyaluronic Acid from the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
